First Climbing Area in Ladakh
IMLI has begun conducting annual outdoor leadership clinics in Leh, Ladakh for local mountain guides. The local guides expressed a lot of interest in us helping them develop a local crag and teaching them the basics. Our team scouted the area and decided the granite out crop near Shey Village was the best candidate. The development of the crag will be ongoing and we plan to begin conducting introductory courses to local guides in the Spring of 2009. (Photos of the project will be uploaded soon.)

Project Complete
It was an exciting time in the history of IMLI. We reached a milestone that we have been working towards for the last four years. We officially turned over the full reins of the Balti Yul Mountaineering School to our local partner, Muhammed Iqbal. Our part in the project had five objectives:
